Welcome to the MMS15
MMS15 Project Home Page. The DTI sponsored MMS15 project
completed in 2006 has delivered an Interactive Knowledge Base
(IKB) on non-destructive evaluation (NDE)
of composites accessible via the Internet. This is one of a number
of projects funded by DTI under the Measurement in Materials Systems Programme.
The MMS15 project
was managed for DTI by
ESR Technology in partnership with
QinetiQ and
NetComposites. Contact
info@mms15.com for more information.
Find the right NDE technique for your composites application
Click on one of the
following buttons to go to the current version of the
Interactive Knowledge Base IKB.
The Project Members Area and Development IKB on the ESR
Technology Server have additional information but require password access. |
The IKB is intended to
provide a focal point for industrial users to information on NDE of
composite materials. The IKB provides advice what type of defects are
detectable by a particular inspection technique and give examples of data,
equipment, procedures, codes, performance and the principles behind the
techniques. There is also a Technique
Selection Tool to assist users
find NDE methods which may have application for their specific problem. Why not have a look at the
Interactive Knowledge Based
IKB
recently launched as an information tool on the NetComposites
site.
Email
info@mms15.com if you would like to be
included as a supplier , comment on the scoring of the technique selection
tool or have examples of data or case-studies
that would be good to include.
The
Interactive Knowledge Base IKB can be found at two locations: on the
NetComposites site or the
'Development Version' on the NNDTC site.
The Content is identical in
both versions. There are some differences in the User Interface and Style. |

One of the perennial questions asked by operators of systems constructed from composite materials is how to inspect them. The key information is spread around a number of industry sectors. Users may not be aware of advances in other sectors, the status, improvements in equipment, practicalities, sensitivity or performance. The lack of a clear answer has limited the take-up of composite materials by UK industry. , MMS15 aimed to overcome this limitation and increase the application of composite materials within the UK and Europe, by providing an independent source and focal point for information on NDE of composites. |
