| OXFORD MATERIALS SOCIETY in association with the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining IOM3 organises a series of general interest evening lectures on specified Tuesdays at 6.30pm. These lectures provide cover a variety of topics from Chocolate Manufacture to Car Crash Testing, or Nuclear Energy to Forensic Science, such is the breadth and relevance of Materials Science. The meeting is open to all and we particularly encourage industrialists, researchers and undergraduate students to attend to hear the talks from experts in the field. |

will be followed on Tuesday 2 March by the Local Heats of the
IOM3 Young Persons lecture Competition, poster attached. Entries now welcome.
You must be 28 years old or younger on 1 June 2010. You need to talk for 15
Minutes maximum on any topic related to Metallurgy and Materials. A great
opportunity to practice a Department or other talk in front of a friendly
audience and panel of Judges. Audience welcome, free sandwich buffet and wine
on the night.

ParkingOn street car parking is available on Pay and Display parking in Keble Road (access via Parks Road), adjacent to the venue for a price of ~£2 for 1h up to 6.30pm Parking is free after 6.30pm. parking is also available nearby in Norham Gardens or St Giles under similar terms. So for people arriving for OMS meetings prior to 6.30pm it will normally be necessary to pay £2 to take you to 6.30pm after which parking is unrestricted. (NOTE Wardens tend to flock just before 6.30pm so payment is advised even if just 10-15min to go). Pay & Display details updated on 23 January 2007. Parking is also possible in roads off Banbury Road, Woodstock Road and in Walton Street (e.g 2h Max 8.30am to 6.30am). Check as times and duration allowed will vary. Note that the University Car Parks are now patrolled by University Wardens 24h a day.
